Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to celebrate with those we love and remember the blessings we have. Being grateful and appreciative for what we have, whatever that may be, is an important key to happiness.

We are thankful for you – our community.

The origins of the Thanksgiving holiday also remind us of what we all owe the Native Americans who were America’s first inhabitants. Click here to read Charles Mann’s story from The Smithsonian about the First Thanksgiving and the People of the First Light.

Think Before you Drink

A nationwide traffic safety campaign is bringing out police officers to arrest impaired drivers over the holiday period, Nov. 22 through Dec. 2.

Don’t drive under the influence: Stop friends and family from doing so. Here are some tips for a safe holiday:

Stop alcohol service long before the event is over.

Encourage guests to space out alcoholic drinks with water and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Prepare for guests to stay the night or assist with calling for cab service.

Choose a responsible designated driver.

Serve plenty of food to lessen the effects of alcohol.

Report impaired drivers by calling 911.
