The second "There's No Place Like Home: Mortgage Foreclosure Summit" is Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PCC Southeast Center at 82nd and Division.
At the first event held last month, Portland homeowner Gloria Caesar was able to find support to save her home from foreclosure.
"I'm so relieved and happy that I can enjoy Christmas in my home," she says. "I've learned so much over the past month about how to be a conscientious consumer and make better financial decisions in the future."
The series of mortgage assistance events came from a partnership between (I'm) Everyday People, a grassroots coalition of volunteers who collaborated with U.S. Attorney-elect John Kroger and Loretta Smith, and a representative for U.S. Senator Ron Wyden's office.

"Gloria Caesar was able to talk to some folks and get some doors open to have a further conversation, we've had some feedback from agencies and civic groups that thought it was a well-thought-out well orchestrated event," Ward says.
Aside from home lending counselors, lawmakers and law enforcement officials, the event also featured massage therapists and acupuncturists on hand to soothe stressed and achy homeowners.
"But the big part was just bringing all the decision-makers and all the folks who are making these shoot from the hip decisions at times and really giving them the chance to see the folks that it's impacting, and hearing their stories," Ward says.
"There's No Place Like Home" events offer an opportunity for consumers to learn how to avoid mortgage foreclosure through educational and informational workshops offered to empower consumers on how to avoid lending scams and foreclosure.
